Music at the Market
Returning to perform at the Market this week is our beloved accordionist, Toby Hanson! Just a few notes from Toby's accordion are enough to whisk the listener away to the boulevards of an elegant European city. As Toby plays, spirits lift and the ambiance transforms, compelling passersby to pause and savor the joys of daily life. Come with your blankets and chairs, grab a bite from one of our outstanding vendors, and relish an evening of music in the park.

Kids Market Bucks Club
Every first Thursday of the month, the Kids Market Bucks Club takes place at the farmers market. This coming Thursday, from 4pm to 7pm, Waste Management will educate children 3 -12 years of age on the various items we can recycle. Participants will also have the opportunity to spin the recycling wheel and enjoy other entertaining activities.
How It Works:
Check in with an adult at the red table across from the Kids Tent to get your Kids Market Bucks Passport.
Complete the healthy eating/healthy living activity to get a stamp on your passport.
Bring your stamped passport back to the check-in table to receive $6 in Kids Market Bucks.
Visit our produce vendors to spend your Kids Market Bucks on fresh fruits, veggies, and edible plant starts.

National Farmers Market Week August 4th through August 10th
Did you know that over 80% of farmers markets are run by community-based nonprofit organizations just like the Bremerton Community Farmers Market? The market manager, seasonal staff, and volunteers ensure compliance with food safety, insurance, and other financial responsibilities, as well as administering food access programs, planning farmers market promotions, managing vendors, and ensuring smooth market day operations.
In 2023, farmers markets reported a total of 2,000 volunteers, representing an increase of 34%. This shows both the need for continued support and the dedication of community members to contribute to their farmers market.
Farmers markets also hosted 1,153 community booths in 2023, an increase of 11%. Creating opportunities for local nonprofits to meet hundreds of people throughout a market day and directly promote their services is a win-win for everyone.
We would like to thank everyone involved in making our farmers market a success. This includes our volunteers, community organizations, vendors, board members, sponsors and you...our local community who support us week in and week out through buying the local produce, food, and products created by our vendors.
If you would like to be part of the Bremerton Community Farmers Market, consider becoming a volunteer, a Community Member for $60 per year, or joining our Board of Directors. We need people like you who love the market to keep it successful!
Market Tokens
Remember to bring your market tokens when visiting our vendors. The $5 tokens are as good as cash, and all vendors accept them. The $1 tokens are exclusively for SNAP recipients and can be used for purchases typically made with an EBT card. If you have any SNAP Market Match coupons, don't leave them behind. We will honor expired ones and can be used with our produce farmers and produce reseller vendors.
Food & School Supply Drive at the Market
Beginning this week, we are starting to collect school supplies for Back-to-School Day and food items for the Bremerton Backpack Brigade. We invite you to participate in this yearly event to assist local students. The collection drive will occur from August 1st until Back-to-School Day on August 22nd.
Suggestion Box at the Market Info Booth
Do you know that no one has left a comment or idea in our new suggestion box? Well, we are formally inviting you to submit something, anything, into this brand-new wooden receptacle. We will accept pictures, poems, thank you notes to our wonderful volunteers, vendors, or staff, or an actual suggestion...use your imagination! Please include your name and phone number if you'd like to be entered into this month's drawing for $10 in BCFM market tokens. Of course, you are welcome to stay anonymous if you'd wish. Let's use this new resource and start a dialogue about the positive...and not so positive...aspects of the farmers market. We value your input...whatever it is!
Parking at the Market
Finding a place to park at the market can be difficult at best! We kindly ask you to be considerate neighbors by parking only in designated areas. Kitsap Community Resources has graciously made their parking lot available after 4:30 PM, located just two blocks away. Note that the boating area has only four designated parking spots for market parking. Vehicles parked outside these four spots in the boating area may be ticketed by Parking Enforcement. Please do not park in front of C.J.'s Evergreen General Store. That is 30-minute parking for customers of that business only. We appreciate your cooperation!
Kitsap Harvest at the Market
The mission at Kitsap Harvest is to minimize produce waste and provide fresh, nutritious, and locally sourced fruits and vegetables directly to low-income housing, senior centers, recovery facilities, shelters, and soup kitchens within Kitsap County. The Grow-A-Row program bolsters this mission by inviting gardeners of all levels, from experts to enthusiasts, to cultivate and contribute surplus produce. Weekly donation stations are established throughout the county for collections, including at the Bremerton Community Farmers Market. In 2022, the BCFM alone amassed over 900 pounds of produce, generously donated by individual gardeners, farm vendors, and patrons who bought extra to give.
