Music at the Market

This week's live music will be performed by The RF's! Brothers Ron and Jeff Fowler play rock 'n' roll in the Jurassic tradition. That means voices, guitars, keyboards, and the assistance of their own personally recorded backing tracks. It's music you can dance to and have a good time! Bring your picnic blankets and camping chairs, get some dinner at one of our amazing vendors, and enjoy a some kickin' tunes!

A sincere thank you to Bremerton Office Machine Company for their continued support of Music at the Market in 2024! To show your gratitude, think about visiting their store at 245 4th Street, Suite 503, in Downtown Bremerton. You may just find a vintage typewriter that turns into your next cherished find!

Chef at the Market

Chef Nash will be at the farmers market Thursday, August 15th, at 5pm to demonstrate how to use ingredients from local farmers and Vulca's Mediterranean Market to make Sicilian Caponata on Bruschetta. There will be opportunities to ask questions, perhaps some hands-on learning, and samples of the recipe. Chef at the Market is sponsored by Vulca's Mediterranean Market located in Downtown Bremerton at 412 Pacific Avenue and by Olympic College's Culinary Arts Program.

Chef Robert Nash is a retired Culinary Professor from Olympic College. He has been living in Bremerton for 10 years and has been a volunteer and board member for the Bremerton Foodline. Robert firmly believes that everyone should have access to a warm meal because he sees food as life.

Food & School Supply Drive at the Market

We are still collecting for our annual food drive to benefit the Bremerton Backpack Brigade and gathering school supplies for children in our community. "Every week during the school year (the Bremerton Backpack Brigade) send backpacks home with elementary school kids in Bremerton. Many kids in our area depend on free lunch programs. The weekends can be challenging for kids and families facing food insecurity. Our mission is to address that gap and provide Bremerton’s children with healthy food for the weekends."To participate in the food drive, please bring any of the items listed below to donate when you come to the farmers market. For more information and ways to help our kids, visit their website at Bremerton Backpack Brigade.

Additionally, we are gathering school supplies for children in our community. Both collection drives will run through Back-to-School Day, next week on Thursday, August 22nd.

Next Week at the Market

Market Tokens

Remember to bring your market tokens when visiting our vendors. The $5 tokens are as good as cash, and all vendors accept them. The $1 tokens are exclusively for SNAP recipients and can be used for purchases typically made with an EBT card. If you have any SNAP Market Match coupons, don't leave them behind. We will honor expired ones and can be used with our produce farmers and produce reseller vendors.

Suggestion Box at the Market Info Booth

Do you know that no one has left a comment or idea in our new suggestion box? Well, we are formally inviting you to submit something, anything, into this brand-new wooden receptacle. We will accept pictures, poems, thank you notes to our wonderful volunteers, vendors, or staff, or an actual suggestion...use your imagination! Please include your name and phone number if you'd like to be entered into this month's drawing for $10 in BCFM market tokens. Of course, you are welcome to stay anonymous if you'd wish. Let's use this new resource and start a dialogue about the positive...and not so positive...aspects of the farmers market. We value your input...whatever it is!

Parking at the Market

Finding a place to park at the market can be difficult at best! We kindly ask you to be considerate neighbors by parking only in designated areas. Kitsap Community Resources has graciously made their parking lot available after 4:30 PM, located just two blocks away. Note that the boating area has only four designated parking spots for market parking. Vehicles parked outside these four spots in the boating area may be ticketed by Parking Enforcement. Please do not park in front of C.J.'s Evergreen General Store. That is 30-minute parking for customers of that business only. We appreciate your cooperation!

Kitsap Harvest at the Market

The mission at Kitsap Harvest is to minimize produce waste and provide fresh, nutritious, and locally sourced fruits and vegetables directly to low-income housing, senior centers, recovery facilities, shelters, and soup kitchens within Kitsap County. The Grow-A-Row program bolsters this mission by inviting gardeners of all levels, from experts to enthusiasts, to cultivate and contribute surplus produce. Weekly donation stations are established throughout the county for collections, including at the Bremerton Community Farmers Market. In 2022, the BCFM alone amassed over 900 pounds of produce, generously donated by individual gardeners, farm vendors, and patrons who bought extra to give.

Engage in the fight against food insecurity and food waste by supporting the growth of Kitsap County's capacity for sustainable, community driven care. For additional details, visit Programs – Kitsap Harvest or inquire at the market's information booth.

REDUCE FOOD WASTE. DONATE FRESH PRODUCE.

Do You Love the Market? Let Everyone Know!

Businesses, including farmers markets, rely on reviews from the community to get feedback from customers. It also helps businesses get found easier online, builds trust with consumers, and facilitates word-of-mouth advertising. But more importantly, reviews help businesses know what they are doing well and what needs improvement. The Bremerton Community Farmers Market invites you to leave a review on any of the following platforms:
