What's Happening at the Market - June 1st

Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 4:00PM - 7:00PM

Evergreen Rotary Park, 1400 Park Ave, Bremerton WA

Music At The Market

It's Kids Market Bucks Club at the market this week! Bring the fam for this week's Music at the Market featuring the Hurdy Gurdy Man! Fred Meyer, "The Hurdy Gurdy Man," has played music for almost 60 years. First as lead guitar in a garage band, next learning old time music on the mountain dulcimer, and then learning world music on the hurdy gurdy. The instrument is a copy of an 1892 French vielle that employs a wheel to act as a bow sounding out the strings. Melody strings go through a keybox to provide melody over drone. Kind of a mechanical bagpipe of sorts. Pretty looking and pretty sounding, it always draws a crowd.

A huge thank you to the Bremerton Office Machine Company for sponsoring this program. See you at the market!

Kids Market Bucks Club

Come out for our first Kids Market Bucks Club of the 2023 market season! The West Sound Beekeepers Association will be at the Bremerton Community Farmers Market with FREE activities for 3- to 12-year-olds, highlighting the various ways bees benefit our environment and our foods. Children completing the activity will earn Kids Market Bucks to spend with our farmers at the market.

Kitsap Harvest Grow-A-Row

Kitsap Harvest gleans produce from around Kitsap County and distributes it directly to community members facing hunger and food insecurity with the help of its volunteers. They are combating hunger and food waste by picking fruit trees, collecting produce donations from home gardeners and community gardens and delivering the food directly to partnering organizations including senior centers, recovery centers and homeless youth and veteran services.

If you have produce you'd like to donate, there are donation stations at Bremerton Community Farmers Market, Port Orchard Farmers Market and Kitsap Community Food Co-op. Sign up for their newsletter and stay up to date on all things Kitsap Harvest! Email info@kitsapharvest.org for questions.

Market Tokens Are Money!

You may have a goldmine just laying around your house! Did you know there are many market tokens circulating in our community and no one is using this valuable resource? Don't miss out...check your glove box, your junk drawer or the bottom of your purse. Tokens don't earn you interest or increase in value if you save them, so dig them out and bring them to the market. What will you buy if you find some at your house?
